2017 Rock-A-Thon Donation Request

Our Rock A Thon annual fundraiser that was scheduled for August 25, 2017 was cancelled due to Hurricane Harvey. The band program counts on fundraising to supplement the district funding, enabling us to compete at the highest levels, locally and nationally. As we are now well into our season, we would like to share with you some of our results so far – Friendswood Marching Festival, 1st place, Lonestar Preview, 8th place. Coming upUIL Marching Contest on October 24 at Mercer Stadium and The Pridgeon Processional Contest on October 28.

As with any quality band program, the cost to fund our marching and concert seasons is very high. Although there are annual dues to fund some of the activities, there are still many costs – for example, music and drill writers, props, guest clinicians, semi-truck maintenance, equipment, buses to contests, and year-round supplemental music instruction – the things necessary to make our season both successful and memorable.  Our financial goal for Rock A Thon is $15,000.

The new date for Rock A Thon is now the evening of Friday, November 10, from 6p-1a. During the evening, we’ll play several team-building games and have a midnight marching rehearsal in the parking lot.

These donor letters were in the process of being emailed out when the hurricane hit. For those of you who were able to respond ‘Pre-Hurricane Harvey’ your donations are appreciated, thank you!  Please understand, we are not asking you for another donation.

For those who did not receive a donor letter, your help is needed now.  The support you provide will be used to replenish our budget for the expenses we have incurred during our marching season.  We are asking every band student to raise $140 each towards our goal of $15,000.

Here are two ways that you can donate:

* Checks made out to “AHSBBBC” and mail back to: AHSBBBC Rock-A-Thon, 1860 FM 359 Rd. #127, Richmond, TX 77406-1296. To give credit to a specific student, please write the student’s name in the Memo field of the check.
