Due to the unfortunate circumstances presented to us with Hurricane Harvey, we are having to cancel our Rock-a-thon for Friday evening, 8/25/17, with the intent of rescheduling. Since our decision to cancel the Rock-a-thon, Dr. Dupre, Superintendent of FBISD, has released the following statement:
I am writing to let you know that we will be closing the district on Friday, August 25 and Monday, August 28, due to the approaching storm. We are also canceling all district activities during this same period, including athletics, fine arts, and building rentals. Full details about other programs, such as Extended Learning, will be posted on the district website —www.fortbendisd.com.
We are all concerned about the weather to come, and it is impossible to predict what will ultimately happen, but our leadership team has determined it would be best to provide our students’ families and our staff members the time and opportunity to prepare for the bad weather as they best see fit. We are also cancelling all district activities, athletics, and building rentals during this same period.
On Monday, August 28, around noon, we will announce plans for Tuesday and the remainder of next week. You may expect that the scheduled open house events and other activities could be affected by the bad weather, and we will provide details in a timely manner.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience and will be sure to get information out as soon as we figure out an alternative date and time to reschedule our fundraising event. Thank you for your understanding and please stay safe this weekend!
